ADVANCEMENT:

SUMMER CAMP
Everything doing fine and dandy!
check out the photo section for updates.

We should have a great COURT of Honor when we return home.

There are many definitions of advancement, but the Scouting definition might well be, simply, "the art of meeting a challenge." For that is exactly what the Boy Scout advancement program asks boys to do. It invites them to master a challenging series of skills that prepare them to enjoy the outdoor action Scouting promises. As they master these skills they move up through six Boy Scouting ranks, each more demanding than the last, and each qualifying them for more exciting outdoor adventure - and more fun.

There are four steps of advancement:

The Boy Scout Learns.

The Boy Scout is Tested.

The Boy Scout is Reviewed.

The Boy Scout is Recognized.

Details for advancement are contained in the Boy Scout Handbook, which every Scout is required to have as soon as possible after joining the Troop.

Welcome to our site.
We are a very active and PROUD troop

Marietta, Indiana

Troop 71 was first organized on July 17th, 2007 and received it's Charter from the Boy Scouts of America on August the 25th, 2007 from Crossroads of America Council. Iron Horse District Executive Patrick Walls was there to present the Charter to the community during a fish fry. There were eight young men and several adult volunteers that first night. We have now Re-Chartered for 2008. We currently have 15 young men and 14 adults. This year we will be working closer with the local Cub Scout Pack by offering them some of our scouts as Den Chiefs. You should also check out our local Cub Scout Pack 241. They are from Southwestern Elementary School, http://www.pack241.freeservers.com
